A Canadian Immigrant’s Story

Immigrant Circle Blog Star Series 4

I relocated to Canada with my husband and daughter in May 2016. We already had family here so we did not face and cultural shocks or need any assistance settling into Canada.  I did a tax course and got employed with a tax company for a temporary position during the tax season 2017. However, after the tax season I was out of job and a friend recommended I visit an employment agency which helped me get a job albeit temporary, contractual job. The greatest challenge I faced as a new immigrant was getting a job and I’m still looking for better opportunities.

My advice to new and intending immigrants is not to expect big things to “fall into their laps” immediately or even in the short run. Be prepared to take up any job to sustain you but do not stop looking.
