Provinces and Territories in Canada
Provinces & Territories
Canada is made up of 10 provinces and 3 territories.
The major difference between a province and a territory in Canada lies in how it came into existence. While a province is created and receives its power from a constitutional act, a territory on the other hand is created through the determination of federal law and has its powers delegated by the parliament of Canada.
The ten provinces in Canada are:
- Alberta
- British Columbia
- Manitoba
- New Brunswick
- Newfoundland and Labrador
- Nova Scotia
- Ontario
- Prince Edward Island
- Quebec
- Saskatchewan
The three territories in Canada are:
- Northwest Territories
- Nunavut
- Yukon
